Maths : Mixing in Ratio

Question : An investor gives money Rupees 10,000 partly to X and Y at 6 % and 10 %  interest rate respectively. If investor earn 750 Rupees in a year . What amount he gave to person Y ?

Answer  Rupees 3750

Easy Method

So investor gives money to X and Y in ratio of 3 : 5
So Y get = 5* 10000 / (3 + 5) = 6250

Question :  A and B are two alloys of zinc and copper has ratio of metals 3:2  and 7:8  respectively.
If equal quantities of alloys are melted to form third alloy then what will be the ratio of zinc and copper ?

Zinc in Alloy A = 3 out of 5 ( 3 + 2 )
Zinc in Alloy B = 7 out of 15 ( 7 + 8 )

Same Quantity of alloy mixed so LCM of 5 and 15  which is 15
15 Alloy A and 15 Alloy B mixed

Total Zinc in Third Alloy = (3 x 15 / 5)  + 7 = 16 out of 30
Total copper in third alloy = 30 - 16 = 14

ratio ( zinc to copper ) = 16 / 14 = 8 : 7
