Mean Median Mode and Range

Mean is actually is a average which you can calculate by diving the count of numbers in  set of data to the sum of all the number given in set of data

for example data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 }
Sum of all number 10 + 13 + 17 + 18 + 12 = 70
and number of numbers is 5

Mean = 70 / 5 = 14

Median is actually a middle number if numbers are arrange in a order ascending/ descending
means to find the median first arrange the set of data in a order and then pick a middle number

example 1 : count of number is odd

 data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 }
arranging the set in order { 10, 12, 13, 17, 18 }
median is 13 as it is a middle number

example 2 : count of number is even

data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 , 14 }
arranging the set in order { 10, 12, 13, 14 ,17, 18 }
now we have two middle numbers so take the average to find the median
median is 13.5

Mode :  It is the value that repeated most often.

example1 :    data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 , 14 , 17, 15 , 17}
mode is 17 as repeated maximum number of times

example2 : data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 , 14 }
mode is none as no muber is repeated

example : data set is { 10 , 10 , 12 , 17 , 15 , 12}

data set is bimodal and modes are 10 and 12

Range : It is difference between largest and smallest number

example : data set is { 10 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 12 , 14 , 17, 15 , 17}

Range = 18 - 10 = 8
